Neeya Naana’s Stray Dog Debate – A Disgrace on Tamil TV The latest Neeya Naana episode on the stray dog issue was not just disappointing — it was a disaster. Vijay TV and Gopinath turned a sensitive subject into a circus of hypocrisy. What shocked me most was Gopinath’s absurd statement : If a child runs in front of a vehicle and causes an accident, it is not a mistake. But if a dog does the same, then it deserves condemnation! Really? Is this the level of “logic” we get on a prime-time talk show? This isn’t debate — this is cheap sensationalism . πŸ”΄ Why this episode was terrible: It was biased and one-sided , with Gopinath openly ridiculing one panel. The so-called dog lovers were made to look shallow , while genuine issues like sterilization, waste management, and public safety were completely ignored. Instead of solutions, viewers were fed hate against strays and division between communities . This show claims to represent “two sides of society.” But what...
πŸ“° Delhi’s Stray Dog Judgment: Justice or Injustice? On August 11, the Supreme Court of India ordered every stray dog in Delhi-NCR to be captured and confined in shelters. Authorities were warned that obstruction would invite strict penalties. The ruling was hailed as a victory for safety. But is it really justice? Behind the legal wording hides a troubling reality: Delhi doesn’t have the infrastructure to house thousands of dogs. Shelters are overcrowded and underfunded; shifting every animal there is a recipe for cruelty, not compassion. The Court’s intent may be safety, but the outcome will be silent suffering—thousands of voiceless lives dumped out of sight. The Constitution itself asks citizens to show compassion to all living beings. Article 51A(g) clearly states it is the duty of every citizen “to protect and improve the natural environment and to have compassion for living creatures.” Stray dogs are not criminals — they are sentient beings entitled to dignity and human...
πŸ“° Delhi’s Stray Dog Order: A Flawed Fix The Supreme Court has ordered that all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR be captured and shifted to shelters within weeks, warning that anyone obstructing the process will face penalties. This came after rising dog-bite cases and rabies concerns. But here’s the truth: removing dogs won’t solve the problem. Overcrowded shelters mean more suffering, and aggression in strays is born from hunger, neglect, and lack of care. Delhi doesn’t need a mass removal, it needs responsible management and community care.  Safety for people must go hand in hand with dignity for animals. Community care begins with simple kindness - feeding, giving clean water, and treating stray dogs with dignity. When we show them love instead of fear, they become protectors of our streets, not threats. A caring neighborhood is always a safer neighborhood.
Stray dog attacks      Very recently I became aware of a cruel attack. A mid-aged lady was on her morning walk, on entering a new street she was cruelly attacked by seven stray dogs. She unfortunately passed away on the way to hospital. The video of the attack was incessantly shared   in WhatsApp groups along with a warning message : " During morning walks carry sticks for safety". To everyone of us this may seem as a pitiful event (towards the lady).  Following this many members of that locality   may carry a stick, hit or kill the dogs that come in their way to ensure safety. We can't blame this notion of understanding, yet there is something else of utmost priority.  Reason of animal's behavior in an arrogant way? If you personally have a pet , will your animal behave that way? Of course not right! In the above case those dogs dint know the meaning of compassion or loyalty to humans, This is not due to their nature, It's because never in it's...
Voices that need our action :  Every day, countless animals share this planet with us, yet their voices are often silenced beneath human noise. From the stray dog searching for food on the street, to the bird whose trees are cut down, to the whale who swims in oceans filled with plastic — their struggles rarely reach us. But if we pause and listen, we will hear them. The bark of a hungry puppy, the cry of an elephant separated from her herd, the silent gaze of a cow standing in the heat — all are voices buried under our indifference. Buried Voices was born from a simple dream: to uncover and share these hidden stories. This space will bring light to the lives of animals — their beauty, their suffering, and above all, their right to live with dignity. Because when we give voice to the voiceless, we don’t just save them — we rediscover our own humanity. 🌿🐾 Welcome to Buried Voices . Today is the beginning of listening.
